The Angel of January - teaches us to look within, to take stock of ourselves and our lives. The January angel keeps us company as we ponder over those long, cold winter nights, helping us to be honest with ourselves and patient at the same time. Conveying the wisdom of an elder, the January angel takes our hand as we seek to glean understanding from our lessons of the past year. With this support, we can give ourselves both recognition and admonition and admonition in their turn. With this help, we can chart a new course or alter our present one. We seek and receive the companionship of the January angel to warm us through the winter of our introspection.

20 Tips for a Positive New Year    by Jon Gordon

1. Stay Positive. You can listen to the cynics and doubters and believe that success is impossible or you can know that with faith and an optimistic attitude all things are possible.

2. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement: My purpose is_______________________.

3. Take a morning walk of gratitude. It will create a fertile mind ready for success.

4. Instead of being disappointed about where you are think optimistically about where you are going.

5. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.

6. Transform adversity into success by deciding that change is not your enemy but your friend. In the challenge discover the opportunity.

7. Make a difference in the lives of others.

8. Believe that everything happens for a reason and expect good things to come out of challenging experiences.

9. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

10. Mentor someone and be mentored by someone.

11. Live with the 3 E's. Energy, Enthusiasm, Empathy.

12. Remember there’s no substitute for hard work.

13. Zoom Focus. Each day when you wake up in the morning ask: “What are the three most important things I need to do today that will help me create the success I desire?” Then tune out all the distractions and focus on these actions.

14. Instead of complaining focus on solutions. It’s the key to innovation.

15. Read more books than you did in 2009. I happen to know of a few good ones.

16. Learn from mistakes and let them teach you to make positive changes.

17. Focus on “Get to” vs “Have to.” Each day focus on what you get to do, not what you have to do. Life is a gift not an obligation.

18. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements:

• I am thankful for __________.

• Today I accomplished____________.

19. Smile and laugh more. They are natural anti-depressants.

20. Enjoy the ride. You only have one ride through life so make the most of it and enjoy it.

Freedom from Fear   www.quado.com

Fear is the cage that confines you.  And yet it is made of nothing but old thoughts.  Fear is like a cage that appears to have solid bars, but they are only candy canes, candy that melts when the heat of clear thought is applied to it, melts away into a sweet flowing nothingness.

Let it melt.  Let it become nothing.  Let it flow away.  There are no bars to this cage that can hold you within.  Your freedom is here for the asking.

World peace begins with your inner peace.

Making A Wish ~ from www.dailyom.com
A Magical Mind

From blowing dandelion seeds into the air to throwing a penny into a fountain, we have all felt inspired to make a wish, to whisper our secret desires into the ears of the universe and wait for signs that we have been heard. Some wishes come true while others remain ethereal visions that either stay with us or fade like a star in the light of morning. Whether they come true or not, wishes are important missives, expressing our heart’s desire as well as our intention to create something new in our lives. When we wish for something, our consciousness opens to receiving it, like a flower unfolding its petals to receive a bee.

There is something innocent and magical about making a wish, something that recalls the energy of childhood. Wishing is not about formulating a plan and following it step by step to attain a goal, which is the realm of adulthood. Wishing is more like a playful volley across the universe, an invitation to play. Waiting for the response is an integral part of the process. Wishing inspires an innocent opening to the possibility of magic as we wait to see if the invisible realm will bring our wish to life. This opening is a beautiful gesture in and of itself, regardless of the outcome. We place ourselves in a magical mind, and this mind is arguably as wonderful as the fulfillment of our wish itself.

In our straightforward, action-oriented society, we may tend to dismiss the power of this seemingly passive process, yet the power of a wish is well known, hence the cautionary phrase, “Be careful what you wish for.” If you have given up wishing in favor of more adult pursuits, you might want to bring its magic back into your life. The next time you see the first star of the evening, or find yourself in front of a birthday cake covered in flaming candles, give yourself the gift of the magical realm that you knew so well as a child—close your eyes, open your mind, and make your wish.

Dreaming Big and Moving the Energy

Sometimes, when we begin to really focus on our dreams, pay attention to our thoughts and create what we want in life, things just flow. Suddenly, we're riding a wave of potential and everything is good. That happens some of the time. At other times, we begin to ride that wave of potential and everything comes to a sudden stop. Nothing works and we feel like we have gone back to the beginning and have to start all over. What we thought was going to be a fast ride forward down easy street turns out to be a slow and painful ride backwards through a repeat of what we are trying to 'undo' and every fear and anxiety that we have about what we want to create rises to meet us. Nothing is wrong, but it's time to face ourselves on the path to change. When we start to dream big and allow ourselves to live our lives in another direction, we move the energy around us. In other words, we 'stir the pot' so to speak, and everything that has been hiding from us (or that we have been hiding from) rises to the surface. And sometimes that isn't very pretty. When we begin to move the energy we get to look at many things in our lives that we didn't notice before and because we are in change mode, we look at them in a different way.

The purpose of this exercise is not to stop us in our tracks, as it sometimes does, but to give us a final opportunity to review the issues, to ensure that we are complete with them, tie up any loose ends and to let them go. Too often, though, we let what feels like a 'blast from the past' stop us, thinking that we have gotten as far as we can and that's all there is. But that is not the case at all. Remember that when we move the energy in our lives we bring up all of the past issues that exist for us. It's all part of the process. Since we have been shifting our energy and thus our perspective, we have a chance to look at these issues in a different way.

Dreaming big is a life-changing process and facing our fears about what we want is part of that process. We have to ask ourselves whether we believe we deserve what we want, whether we are ready to face change, how we are going to re-structure our lives and what our next steps are. We also have to learn to walk in faith and trust, knowing that our deepest desires are right for us and what we go through when we stir the energy is part of a process of removing the obstacles from
the path to fulfillment. The flow is always there and we are always in it, we merely have to face and overcome our fears and then we can continue on our path to making our dreams part of our reality.

Inspirational Message – PLAY !!!   www.innerlinks.com

Maximize every moment of liveliness. Experience pleasurable involvement in all your activities and enjoy what you are doing. Have fun!

Play is at the heart of our creativity and animates our being in our most carefree moments. It helps us live with absurdity, paradox, and mystery. It feeds our joy and wonder. It keeps our search for meaning down to earth.

There is so much going on in the world, and within us, that our stress levels have adjusted upwards to a new 'normal' creating a hidden epidemic of imagination deficit disorder. Play is an antidote to stress. Either can totally absorb your attention and cause a cascade of feelings that greatly impact your happiness quotient.

Play engages us with the imaginal realm and enriches our metabolization of life. It is integral for generating insights and effortless realizations. Play literally gives us a 'breather' – restoring our vitality at a core level.

This month find a fun activity that totally captivates your attention to the point where time seems to slow or even stop, and the voice inside -- the one giving constant commentary on what you’re doing, have done, or will be doing -- ceases.  Laugh heartily at jokes, situations, and yourself.

Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.  Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumoured by many, or merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.  But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason, then accept it and live up to it.
